BEIRUT, LEBANON (8:55 P.M.) – Nearly 38 months ago, the so-called Islamic State (ISIL) took Iraq by storm, capturing several important areas while wrecking havoc on the historical Fertile Crescent.
Well, the Islamic State’s reign of terror in the Nineveh Governorate is now over, as the Iraqi Armed Forces liberated the last areas under the terrorist group’s control in this historical province in northwest Iraq.
With the Nineveh Governorate liberated, the Iraqi military can now shift their attention to Samarra in the Salaheddine Governorate and Al-Qa’im in the Al-Anbar Governorate.
Both of the aforementioned areas will take some time to liberate due to the Islamic State’s inability to retreat anywhere outside of Syria’s Deir Ezzor Governorate.
