BEIRUT, LEBANON (7:15 P.M.) – The Islamic State (ISIL) launched a major offensive in the eastern countryside of Hama today, targeting the Wadi Al-Azeeb area that is under the control of the Syrian Arab Army (SAA).

ISIL began the offensive by launching a lightening-like assault across two axes in the Wadi Al-Azeeb area, resulting in heavy clashes that are still ongoing at the moment.

While the terrorist group hasn’t seized anything of significance, the government has forced to close the Salamiyah-Ithriya Highway due to security concerns for civilians traveling through the area.

The Islamic State often launches attacks in this area as a way to harass the Syrian government forces and deter them from launching offensive operations.

Annoying hope they withdraw soon. Or better are beaten decisively.

that route is extremely dangerous as long as ISIS keeps on attacking it. It should be given a priority

Yes I am afraid. And that will draw resources.

p.s. But it is really no more than a nuisance raid.
Best go after them hard an beat/punish them decisively.
