BEIRUT, LEBANON (7:10 A.M.) – The Islamic State (ISIL) launched a massive offensive along the Iraqi border, yesterday, targeting the Syrian Arab Army’s (SAA) primary defenses in this desert region of the Homs Governorate.
ISIL began the offensive by attacking the Syrian Army garrisons near the border; this would result in a series of intense clashes that would last for several hours.
With help from their Iraqi allies, the Syrian Arab Army was able to beat back the terrorist forces, killing and wounding scores of militants across the vast desert terrain.
Based on footage released by Hezbollah’s official media wing, the Syrian military and their allies were able to inflict heavy damage on the terrorist group’s forces, destroying a large number of armored vehicles that were used in the attack.
Since this failed offensive, the Syrian Arab Army and their allies have reinforced the area in preparation for another large attack by the terrorist forces.
