BEIRUT, LEBANON (12:05 P.M.) – The Islamic State (ISIL) launched another offensive in the Deir Ezzor Governorate this week,  targeting the Syrian Arab Army’s (SAA) defenses near the Panorama Roundabout.

ISIL began the assault by storming the Syrian Army’s positions east of the Panorama School; this would result in a series of intense clashes this morning.

Despite the intensity of their assault, the Islamic State was unable to bypass the Syrian Arab Army’s defenses in the Panorama area of western Deir Ezzor.

According to a military source, Syrian and Russian airstrikes chased the attacking ISIL terrorists out of the area after they failed to advance; this resulted in a large number of casualties for the retreating terrorists.

The source added that the Islamic State is gathering for another attack this afternoon, but Russian airstrikes are making it difficult for them to begin the assault.
