BEIRUT, LEBANON (10:00 A.M.) – The Islamic State (ISIL) launched a powerful attack at the southern axis of the Deir Ezzor Military Airport, last night, targeting the Syrian Arab Army’s (SAA) positions at the Al-Tameen Brigade Base.
ISIL attempted to catch the Syrian Arab Army off-guard with their assault during the twilight hours on Sunday night, but they would later find themselves involved in a well-timed ambush at the southern axis of the Deir Ezzor Military Airport.
According to a military source in Deir Ezzor, at least 15 militants from the Islamic State were killed and two pick-up trucks fitted with 14.5mm machine guns.
The Al-Tameen Base is now secure and calm has been restored to the southern axis of the Deir Ezzor Military Airport.
