BEIRUT, LEBANON (6:50 P.M.) – The Iraqi Armed Forces are rapidly advancing inside the western sector of Mosul, liberating large parts of the city from the Islamic State (ISIS) terror organization.

According to Iraqi activists, the army and federal police liberated the New Mosul District on Monday afternoon, forcing the remaining Islamic State terrorists to retreat northwest of this area.

Following the liberation of the New Mosul District, the Iraqi Armed Forces seized the Al-Naft district, leaving scores of militants dead in the process.

Since launching their latest phase of the Mosul offensive, the Iraqi Armed Forces have liberated more than 1/3 of the city, the Ministry of Defense claimed on Sunday.
