BEIRUT, LEBANON (5:20 P.M.) – Iraq’s Hashd Al-Sha’abi forces (var. Popular Mobilization Units) have reinforced the entire Deir Ezzor border region after the so-called “Islamic State” (var. ISIS/ISIL/IS/Daesh) recaptured several areas inside the province.
According to the official media wing of Hashd Al-Sha’abi, the Iraqi forces have reinforced the border region in a bid to protect the area from Daesh’s attempted expansion.
The Hashd Al-Sha’abi troops have already begun heavily targeting Daesh’s positions in the Deir Ezzor Governorate, as the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) attempt to regroup and retake the areas they lost.
