Iraqi forces have made rapid advances in eastern Mosul in the last 48 hours, liberating a commercial and exhibition complex, the “Mercedes” company and a flour mill in al-Karama neighborhood, as well as the al-Mithaq neighborhood in eastern Mosul.
Media officials with the Ministry of Defense announced on Tuesday that “Forces from the Counter-Terrorism Service managed to liberate the area of exhibitions and the commercial complex, south of Ta’mim neighborhood, in the eastern side of Mosul.”
“The security forces raised Iraqi flag over the buildings of these areas,” the statement added.
Meanwhile in a separate announcement, the liberation of al-Mithaq neighborhood in eastern Mosul was announced.
“Rapid Intervention Forces managed, at noon today, to liberate al-Mithaq neighborhood in the eastern side of the city of Mosul,” the statement said. “Rapid Intervention Forces inflicted heavy human and material losses on the Islamic State, as well as raising Iraqi flag over the buildings of the neighborhood,” the statement added.
