BEIRUT, LEBANON (3:45 P.M.) – The Iraqi Army and Federal Police liberated another district in the western sector of Mosul on Sunday, forcing the Islamic State (ISIL) terrorists to retreat further north in order to avoid being overrun.

According to Iraqi activists, their forces liberated the Wadi Al-‘Ayn District on Sunday afternoon, killing and wounding several Islamic State terrorists in the process of this advance.

Meanwhile, in the western countryside of Mosul, the Popular Mobilization Units (Hashd Al-Sha’abi) continued their advance west of the Bashiqa area, striking the Islamic State’s final positions near the strategic town of Tal ‘Afar.

Since launching their assault on western Mosul in early March, the Iraqi Armed Forces have liberated more than 40 percent of the Islamic State controlled territory in this part of the provincial capital.

These are not hard and fast rules, merely guidelines to aid the human judgment of our community and keep this a clean and well-lighted place for civilized public discourse.

Improve the Discussion
