BEIRUT, LEBANON (8:45 P.M.) – The Iraqi Armed Forces scored a major advance near the Syrian border, Saturday, liberating a large area that was occupied by the -so-called Islamic State (ISIS).
Led by the army and Hashd Al-Sha’abi (Popular Mobilization Units), the Iraqi Armed Forces managed to liberate a large area that is located between the Salaheddine and Al-Anbar governorates.
The Islamic State is now on the verge of being expelled for good from western Iraq after the recent advances by the government forces.
Meanwhile, in Syria, the US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces reached the border-crossing located directly north of Albukamal city, securing their large presence in this area.
