Staff Lieutenant General Abdulghani al-Assadi, a high ranking commander in Iraq’s Counter-Terrorism Service (CTS) announced late on Monday that around 90% of eastern Mosul has been liberated from ISIS.
He explained that intense clashes are still occurring between the CTS and ISIS fighters.
Once the entirety of eastern Mosul is liberated, Iraqi forces will begin to concentrate their attack on western Mosul, in which the Tigris river separates the two portions of the city.
