BEIRUT, LEBANON (1:30 P.M.) – On Saturday morning, the Iraqi Armed Forces and the Diyala Governorate Police Directorate in eastern Iraq launched a military operation in the southern part of the Bahriz District.

The security forces said in a press statement that “part of the Diyala Operations Command represented by the 5th Infantry Division of the Iraqi Army and the Diyala Police Directorate are conducting raids in southern Bahriz and implementing orders to arrest the wanted and prosecute the remnants of the ISIS terrorist gangs, as well as strengthening security and stability there, and we will provide you with details later.”

Earlier in the day, the Popular Mobilization Forces (Hashd Al-Sha’abi) announced that four members of the 23rd Brigade were killed while thwarting an attack by ISIS in the Diyala Governorate.

The deputy from Diyala Governorate, Burhan Al Maamouri, warned on Saturday, of the imminent danger in the governorate, after organization increased their operations inside Diyala.
