BEIRUT, LEBANON (1:45 P.M.) – The Iraqi Armed Forces continued their large-scale offensive in west Mosul on Saturday, targeting the remaining districts under the Islamic State’s (ISIL) control.
The Iraqi Army, alongside the Federal Police forces, managed to liberate the Shiha District of west Mosul this morning after a fierce battle with the Islamic State militants embedded inside.
Over the past 5 days, the Iraqi Armed Forces have liberated large chunks of western Mosul, leaving less than 40 percent of this sector left to capture before the Islamic State is fully expelled.
