BAGHDAD, IRAQ (4:25 P.M.) – The Iraqi Army, alongside Liwaa Salaheddeen, continued their large-scale advance in the Salaheddeen Governorate on Saturday, capturing several villages from the Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham (ISIS).

According to the Iraqi Ministry of Defense, their forces managed to liberate Al-Namal, Al-Jadirah, and Al-Khanukah near the strategic town of Al-Shirqat on Saturday.

Following the capture of these villages, the Iraqi Armed Forces stormed the town of Al-Zuwiyah; this is the site of ongoing clashes between the government and ISIS.

This cleansing operation is being done in preparation for the Hawijah offensive, which is likely to begin in the coming days.

with all of Salaheddeen under government control, does this mean that Hawija is cut off from the rest of the Daeshbags?

This along with the progress in Aleppo currently shows how embarrassingly easy it is to win against a side you outnumber, encircle and have airforces against. The fact that it’s taken this long is shameful, but at least it’s finally happening! At least the Iraqis aren’t fleeing again from an enemy that outnumber dozens to one!
