BEIRUT, LEBANON (7:45 A.M.) – The Iraqi security forces said on Monday that what was reported by several media outlets about the fall of a missile near the Baghdad International Airport terminal was incorrect.
A brief statement published by the security forces said: “We deny this news completely, and the Baghdad Operations Command did not indicate any rocket launches 0050 hours.”
“We call on all media outlets to be accurate and take information exclusively from the security media cell,” she added.
Iraqi sources announced earlier that “a missile landed in the vicinity of Baghdad airport, and that it did not explode.”
Prior to this attack, a security source said on Saturday that “a missile targeted the American embassy in the Green Zone in the center of the capital, Baghdad, but the defense system managed to shoot it down.”
They added, “The missile fell outside the walls of the embassy.”
