Once Tehran’s capabilities to fight drug trafficking and terrorism are compromised due to re-imposed sanctions, the US and its partners will not be safe from a “deluge of drugs, asylum seekers, bombs and terrorists,” said Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, speaking at a conference in Tehran on Saturday.

“By weakening Iran through sanctions, many [governments] will not be safe,” said Rouhani while addressing delegates at the second Speaker’s Conference with a focus on ‘The Challenges of Terrorism and Inter-regional Connectivity.’

“It is better for those who do not believe our words to take a look at a geography map,” added the Iranian president who warned against the consequences of what he described as “economic terrorism” levelled against the Islamic Republic.

Parliament speakers of Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Turkey, China, and Russia are attending the conference taking place in Tehran on December 7 and 8.

IMHO President Rouhani is totally right. The US unilateral leaving the atomic agreement with Tehran and the unilateraly imposed sanctions, weakens all other participants of the treaty including Iran. Not only in the capabilities to fight terror are impaired but in all other aspects of relations too.
