BEIRUT, LEBANON (12:10 P.M.) – An Iranian soldier was killed this week while guarding a crossing point near the Pakistan border, the state-owned Islamic Revolution News Agency (IRNA) reported on Wednesday.
Citing an informed source, IRNA reported that the Iranian guard was killed by unknown assailants in the Marjaveh area of the Sistan and Baluchistan province.
An official, speaking on the condition of anonymity, told IRNA that the Iranian soldier, Mehdi Hodiyani, was killed while monitoring the border.
The Iranian government has yet to comment on this latest border incident.
The Mirjaveh area is located 75 kilometers east of Zahedan, the capital of Sistan and Baluchestan province and it shares border with Pakistan.
