Iran’s Major General Qassem Soleimani has claimed that ISIS and other terrorist groups in Syria were created to weaken Iran, without specifying by whom.

“Daesh (ISIS) and Takfiri terrorist groups were not created for war with Syria, they were established to target the Islamic Republic of Iran,” Soleimani said.

“The Syrian government, with the help of Iran, has been able to withstand pressure and besiegement for five years, so that the world could admit that these groups [fighting the government] are terrorists,” he added.

He also said that without Iranian support, Syria would have been overrun by terrorist groups.

“Today the Takfiris have been defeated… on all fronts,” the IRGC commander said, adding, “I believe that the Syrian people are invincible if they support their government,” he added.

He also stressed that “the EU is paying a heavy security price for supporting terrorist groups” in the Middle East.

Factors unconsidered in 2007 :
– shale gas fracking and the HUGE reserves in USA, EU, China, Australia, Russia and Libya… In other terms : all don’t give a f**k about Gulf oil now which BTW is soon to be dry…
– Rouhani prez and an Iranian society rejecting the mullahs : let’s be clear, now, Iran is nothing else than one of the 2 less religious countries on Earth with Estonia!

He’s partly correct. They were also created to help destroy Iraq as well as the Mid East alongside other Saudi funded cults.

… Or maybe Iran ain’t the target at all…And Syria not so but more a bait.
Now, but I see things from both Russia and EU POV, and even Israel as their interests are clearly the same, the problems are KSA, Qatar and Turkey, in fact, MB/AKP/Erdogan in Turkey as Iran is simply… NOT a threat, despite the flaming rhetorics.
Now, the US way of seeing things is quite a bit different, but let’s say some parts of the US actions are mostly irrational…
