DAMASCUS, SYRIA (12:30 P.M.) – The Iranian Foreign Minister, Mohammad Javad Zarif, met with both the Lebanese President and Hezbollah’s Secretary General during his brief trip to Beirut on Tuesday.
Zarif’s first meeting was with the newly elected Lebanese President, Michel ‘Aoun, at his Ba’abda residence.
The two statesmen discussed a wide-range of topics, including Lebanon’s security and economic climate.
Following his meeting with Michel ‘Aoun, Zarif met Hezbollah’s Secretary General, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, to also discuss Lebanon’s security and regional issues.
Several Hezbollah officials also attended the meeting, including Deputy S.G. Sheikh Naim Qassem, Shariah Council head Sheikh Mohammad Yazbek, politburo chief Sayyed Ibrahim Amin al-Sayyed, Sayyed Nasrallah’s political advisor Hussein Khalil, according to Hezbollah’s Media Relations.
