BEIRUT, LEBANON (2:00 P.M.) – The Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council Ali Shamkhani said on Tuesday that the IRGC strike near the U.S. troops in eastern Syria had sent a message to Washington.
“Our aerospace forces sent you [the Americans] an important signal when they fired rockets at facilities three miles [about 5 km] from you,” Shamkhani said, as quoted by the Tasnim News Agency.
On Monday morning, the IRGC’s aerospace forces fired at least a half dozen surface-to-surface missiles towards the Islamic State’s (ISIS) positions in the Albukamal countryside of the Deir Ezzor Governorate.
The IRGC would follow up this attack by launching a big drone strike on the Islamic State’s positions.
According to the Iranian Ministry of Defense, the IRGC attack resulted in the death of more than 40 Islamic State leaders.
