Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has stated that a no-fly zone in Syria will serve to only strengthen foreign-sponsored terrorists in Syria.

“A no-fly zone (in Syria) will benefit terrorists, who have everything expect for military aircraft,” Rouhani said during a presser after his speech at the 71st United Nations General Assembly session in New York on Thursday.

“They have mortar shells, tanks, missiles and armored personnel carriers. They have cannons and artillery batteries but no warplanes. The creation of a no-fly zone is a not a right step. This is an ill-advised suggestion,” the Iranian president added.

On Wednesday, US Secretary of State John Kerry demanded that Russia and Syria halt all air activity in the fight against terrorist forces.

Well, when Kerry says there is no military solution in Syria, he understates : “for the gangs we support”. When he wants a no fly zone, it’s just they don’t stand a chance because of both VKS and SyAAF… IMHO : if proposed at the UNSC : veto from both Russia and China, period. Frankly, I Estimate Putin is +20 IQ if compared to Kerry or Obama. And they’re already very clever guys and this pure monster being Kissinger -the biggest criminal at the face of this Earth nowadays- is between the two levels. In some ways, I prefer not… Read more »

A no fly zone in Syria is perhaps the only strategy that may aid in leveraging a democratic transition in Syria, making possible a cooperative peace based upon the self determination of the people of Syria. The regime and the ‘terrorists’ (no disrespect intended to anyone) are like Scylla and Charybdis, a rock and a hard place. The middle road, a cooperative road, the road we might all be able to agree on, can be self determination by the people of Syria. Only democracy, inclusive of all the Syrian people, can make this possible. A victory by force will succeed… Read more »
