BEIRUT, LEBANON (8:30 P.M.) – A Fox News report that was released on Tuesday alleged that Iran is building a massive military base inside of Syria.

According to the report, the Iranian military compound is being constructed between the Syrian city of Albukamal and Iraqi city of Al-Qa’im.

Using satellite images from the Israel-based Image Satellite International company, Fox News showed the construction of the compound along the Iraqi-Syrian border.

This image shows a new Iranian military compound, according to Fox News sources; center is the Iranian crossing between Albukamal-Al-Qaim under construction; right is the official border crossing which is blocked and not active. Image Satellite International

Previously, it was reported that the Iranian military was constructing a land bridge between Al-Qa’im and Albukamal; however, the Syrian authorities said that they were behind the construction as they prepare to reopen the crossing.

Fox News says the compound is in its advanced states and should be completed soon.

The construction of the marked new military compound began in recent months and is currently in advanced stages, already including several areas for fortified storehouses, probably for ammunition. Image Satellite International

The problem with this claim, however, is that the Syrian authorities are preparing to reopen the crossing with their Iraqi counterparts. The crossing will likely have Iranian, Iraqi, and Syrian military personnel in the area.

The issue though is that the construction of this compound doesn’t necessarily mean it will be used by the Iranian Armed Forces or their allied paramilitaries.

Syria has a large number of border guards present near the crossing, so they could use the compound.

According to the Fox News report, the base has been dubbed the “Imam Ali” compound; this is named after Ali Ibn Abi Taleb, the revered first cousin and son-in-law of the Prophet Muhammad.

The Syrian military has not yet commented on these latest allegations.

The Americans have military bases throughout countless countries in the world, including Syria and Iraq where they have no business to be. There is no reason why Iran should not do the same, and with the approval of the Syrian government.

Exactly, Iran is confronting US and Zionist sponsored Wahhabi terrorism in the region and is assisting the legitimate and internationally recognized government of Syria along with its Russian allies.

With IRGC terrorist attacks even in India and about 20 countries while Hezbollah did terrorist attacks in about 40 countries, not forgetting Iran’s teaming with al-Qaeda including for 9-11, it’s the pot calling the kettle black! Terrorists fighting terrorists! May these annihilate each other! AFAIK, only 2 countries are blacklisted by FATF : Iran and NoKo https://www.fatf-gafi.org/publications/high-risk-and-other-monitored-jurisdictions/documents/public-statement-february-2019.html Imran Khan is struggling to avoid Pakistan blacklisting too… +++ “Zionist sponsored Whahabi terrorism” = can you point us money trails? Do Qatar or even KSA ever needed US or Israeli tax-payers’ money to fund their proxies? Let me have severe doubts! Moreover,… Read more »

Nobody is denying the right of Iran to build bases where they’re invited! It’s as legitimate as the right of Israel to attack these 😁 After all, Iran asks for this for long… Once they penetrate into IDF strategic depth zone, they become targets… Did they thought that decades of anti-Israel attacks at worldwide level as much as home, directly by IRGC or more usually through proxies like Hezbollah, Hamas or PIJ etc, would go on forever without inducing some payback? The only surprising thing is that Israel is still not retaliating directly in Iran… In their place, I”d already… Read more »

Iran is totally within its rights to support its ally Syria in its legitimate anti-terror drive. It is good that Iran is building a base, unlike the Zionist cowards to ran off from their Avivam base in northern occupied Palestine after the textbook successful Hezbollah strike.

Ah, even Israel has never denied Iran’s right to support Assad’s regime, it’s a thing you don’t seem to have noticed : even for Israel, they see it as absolutely legal… BUT since Iran has directly through IRGC or using proxies like Hezbollah etc, attacked Israel, IDF also has the right to strike any Iranian military facility on Earth as much as their proxies and allies. +++ “unlike the Zionist cowards to ran off from their Avivam base in northern” =>Avivam???? You mean Avivim… The cowards are Hezb/IRGC : first time ever they had an opportunity to invade Israel and… Read more »

This is nothing but a Israeli speculation served to us by their useful tool: the Fox News. It is quite normal to invite one’s friends over as it should be no one else’s business to complain about that. Perhaps instead of constantly destroying and killing it’s neighbours Israel should try a friendly approach? Just once? You know, something all other nations in the World do, and then they get friendliness back in return. Problem is Israel has no single friend in the World, just a couple of usefull tools they carefully chose and bought.

US and allies have their ‘war on terror’, Iran and allies have their’s. We all know now which one is the real one not faked pretending to be while secretly colluding with and supplying terrorists.

Iran has allies? Wait when a coalition will do a Gaddafi to Khamenei, you may have a surprise if these allies come to help or not.

Nobody denied Iran having the right to have bases, it’s as legal under international law as the right of Israel, USA and more than 50 other countries to bomb these bases and even bomb Iran, thanks to IRGC or Hezbollah terrorist attacks on the soil of these countries!
Even Panama or Argentina, would they be able to project forces, would have this right Since Hezbollah did attacks in these countries!
