BEIRUT, LEBANON (11:20 A.M.) – Footage released on Friday shows the debris and crash site of the SU-24M which was shot down by the Turkish Air Force in November 2015.
Meanwhile, the Basmanny court in Moscow charged nine Syrian citizens accused of killing the pilot of the Russian SU-24M bomber, Oleg Peshkov, in absentia on November 20.
The Syrians were charged with participating in illegal militias along with murder, attempted murder, and the mutilation of a corpse in accordance with the level of participation.
These nine Syrian civilians are under an international arrest warrant.
In November 2015, a Russian SU-24M was shot down in the province of Latakia, near the Syrian-Turkish border by a Turkish F-16, with Turkey claiming the aircraft violated Turkish airspace. Both SU-24M pilots ejected.
The crew commander Oleg Peshkov was killed by fire from the ground, while the other pilot, Konstantin Murahtin, escaped and was rescued.
Russian Marine Alexander Pozynich was killed in the rescue operation.
