BEIRUT, LEBANON (6:10 P.M.) – A series of intense clashes broke out on Thursday between the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and Jaysh Al-Izza along the Idlib-Hama axis.
According to a military source at the town of Mhardeh, the Syrian Arab Army and Jaysh Al-Izza clashed at a number of different points along the Idlib-Hama axis, resulting in several casualties for both parties involved.
The source said the most intense clashes were reported near the northern Hama towns of Lahaya, Zakat, and Al-Latamnah.
Meanwhile, in the Al-Ghaab Plain area, the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) reported that the military managed to destroy a number of hideouts belonging to the militant groups in the village of Jisr Beit Al-Ras.
The SANA report said as a result of this attack by the Syrian Arab Army, several militants were killed.
These clashes between the Syrian Arab Army and the militant groups in northwestern Syria come just hours after the Russian Air Force unleashed a massive assault in the southwestern countryside of the Idlib Governorate.
The Russian airstrikes were reportedly carried out in retaliation for the jihadist attacks on the towns of Mhardeh, Salhab, and Al-Suqaylabiyeh.
