DAMASCUS, SYRIA (8:25 A.M.) – Immense weapons caches have been found hidden in East Qalamoun Mountains following mass rebel surrender last week.
The search for the concealed arms kicked off based on intelligence info that the surrendered rebel fighters hadn’t handed over all their weapons before forced to leave for the country’s north.
Units of the Syrian Army initiated an intensive mop-up operation where huge quantities of arms were found hidden in armories skillfully carved into the mountains.
The uncovered arsenal includes ammunition of different kinds, short and medium-range missiles, as well as tanks; all looted from Army arms depots at earlier stages.
Rebels in East Qalamoun area were evacuated to the country’s north as per an agreement with the Syrian government.
