A Syrian Arab Air Force Hind Helicopter crashed outside of the Abu Al-Dhuhour Military Airbase while attempting to airdrop supplies to the soldiers inside the airport on Monday.

The helicopter came under-fire from the Al-Qaeda linked “Al-Nusra Front” (Jabhat Al-Nusra) militants attempting to infiltrate into this airbase in eastern Idlib.

Syrian Arab Army sources were unable to provide much information regarding the cause of the helicopter’s demise ; however, they did confirm that all 3 men inside perished during the crash.

The 3 Syrian Arab Air Force officers were identified as the following:

  1. Colonel ‘Ali Hassan (Pilot)
  2. Captain Aymen ‘Abbas
  3. Sergeant Wa’el Kaywan
