For the 2nd time in 2 weeks, a woman was arrested and executed by the Al-Qaeda linked “Al-Nusra Front” (Jabhat Al-Nusra) on charges of “prostitution” and “adultery” in the Idlib Governorate. The unidentified woman was forced to confess her alleged “crimes” on video and then she was summarily executed by members of the Al-Nusra Front in the village of Ma’arat Musreen.

Continuing their reign of terror, the Al-Nusra Front flogged a young man for the alleged crime of “insulting the Prophet Muhammad.” The young man was brutally beaten and forced to confess his crimes in front of the villagers. A civilian source added that this event occurred at the village of Joozif in the Al-Zawiyya Mountains (Jabal Al-Zawiyya) of western Idlib.

The Al-Nusra Front has increased its brutality towards the civilians of Idlib, following their successful campaign to eliminate the Syrian Revolutionaries Front’s (SRF) presence in this province. With the SRF’s leader, Jamaal Ma’arouf”, retreating to Turkey along with his fighters, the Al-Nusra Front has monopolized the operations against the Syrian Arab Army inside the province; this includes the current offensive at the Abu Al-Dhuhour Airbase and the capture of Wadi Al-Deif base in December 2014.

This is a Civilized Place for Public Discussion

Please treat this discussion with the same respect you would a public park. We, too, are a shared community resource — a place to share skills, knowledge and interests through ongoing conversation.

These are not hard and fast rules, merely guidelines to aid the human judgment of our community and keep this a clean and well-lighted place for civilized public discourse.

Improve the Discussion

Help us make this a great place for discussion by always working to improve the discussion in some way, however small. If you are not sure your post adds to the conversation, think over what you want to say and try again later.

The topics discussed here matter to us, and we want you to act as if they matter to you, too. Be respectful of the topics and the people discussing them, even if you disagree with some of what is being said.

Be Agreeable, Even When You Disagree

You may wish to respond to something by disagreeing with it. That’s fine. But remember to criticize ideas, not people. Please avoid:

  • Name-calling
  • Ad hominem attacks
  • Responding to a post’s tone instead of its actual content
  • Knee-jerk contradiction

Instead, provide reasoned counter-arguments that improve the conversation.
