BEIRUT, LEBANON (1:00 P.M.) – The outgoing Chief-of-Staff of the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) Gadi Eisenkot told the New York Times this week that Israel enjoys both aerial and intelligence superiority over Syria.
According to Eisenkot (as quoted by the Jerusalem Post), Israel has “complete intelligence superiority in this area [Syria]. We enjoy complete aerial superiority. We have strong deterrence and we have the justification to act [against Iranian interests there].”
Eisenkot would add that Israel is “pushing them [the Iranians] in Syria they transfer their efforts to Iraq.”
Last night, the Israeli Air Force fired several missiles towards the Damascus International Airport area, prompting the Syrian military to activate their air defenses in a bid to repel the attack.
The Israeli missiles managed to hit a munitions warehouse near the Damascus International Airport, causing several explosions that could be heard throughout the capital city.
