BEIRUT, LEBANON (1:00 P.M.) – The U.S. Coalition’s command announced on Thursday that up to 400 Marines have arrived in northern Syria to begin an operation to capture Islamic State-held city of Raqqa.

The U.S. Marines are reportedly in the process of setting up an outpost in northern Al-Raqqa to help the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) seize the provincial capital from the Islamic State terror organization.

While U.S. military personnel have deployed to Syria before, Thursday marks the first time that the Marines have participated in this armed conflict.

No further details have been released at this time.

The US should have given support against IS in Syria years ago – and should have made that with hand and feet now by helping the SAA.

Seems the problem is being more or less solved, well, not too late but the dirty games and pay-to-play have just made millions to suffer.

The ex president was – from a deep state family – not a neo-con.

Maritime strategic outlook is pay to play which looks like dirty.

US should stop supporting ISIS at first! They were supplying ISIS in Iraq and Syria with weapons all the time. You are very, very naive. Stop watching fakestream media.

If the US ever did help – it was long ago. As e.g. Putin said. The US action created the circumstances that led to IS. But this does not inevitably include or mean direct help or intention. IMHO US policies are shortsighted – all exceptionalist cults are. p.s. Brother, quit insulting – if You do not like other’s opinion or assessment – just post facts. I am definitely not naive. I did some serious study of history unlike the Montenegrin – that insulted me the other day – thinks. And I am a legalist. I do not understand Arabic. Only… Read more »

US marines in Syria to fight ISIS- a very fishy proposition , given that in the past NATO and Americans colluded with ISIS , and even late in January 2017 two Chinook helicopters landed in Iraq’s Salahuddin province , delivered supplies to the encircled ISIS units , and most crucially , they spirited off certain very specific persons from the battlefield.
