BEIRUT, LEBANON (10:00 A.M.) – The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) launched another powerful attack in the Deir Ezzor Governorate on Saturday, targeting the area around the strategic military airport that was under the control of the Islamic State (ISIL) forces.
Led by their Republican Guard units, the Syrian Arab Army began their assault by storming the Islamic State’s defenses at the Al-Faraj Base, south of the Deir Ezzor Military Airport.
Following a fierce battle with the Islamic State militants, the Syrian Arab Army liberated the important Al-Faraj Base, killing scores of terrorists in the process of this advance on Saturday.
Meanwhile, northwest of the airport, the Syrian Arab Army continued their advance in the provincial cemetery after liberating a vital hilltop earlier in the week.
The Al-Qassem Group managed to liberate more territory inside the provincial cemetery on Saturday, putting them in position to seize this entire site in the coming days.
According to a military source in Deir Ezzor, the Syrian Arab Army killed more than 15 Islamic State terrorists during their assault on the provincial cemetery.
