On Saturday morning, the Houthi-led forces reportedly overran the entire Al-Waziyah district, while securing several strategic locations south of the Taiz Governorate after battling the Saudi-led Coalition and pro-Hadi forces for weeks.
According to the Yemen-based “Al-Masirah News”, the Yemeni Army, in coordination with Popular Committees, have fully overran the government complex and the centre of the Al-Waziyah District after conducting a military operation in Taiz.
A military source added that Houthi forces have also secured the Al-Ahyouq Junction, which connects the Al-Waziyah Distrct with the coastal city of Dhubab.
He added that the Yemeni Armed Forces have seized the local stadium, the villages of Al-Sheikh and Hannat, and a number of highlands where the pro-Hadi forces were stationed.
He noted that the battle in Al-Waziyah has resulted in a high casualty count among the Saudi and Hadi forces.
The Hadi loyalists cited the scarcity of ammunition and the lack of support from the Saudi-led Coalition as the reason behind their withdrawal.
It is noteworthy to mention that this news also comes after a special report from an Al-Masirah correspondent, which pointed out that the Coalition forces reportedly withdrew their military support for the Hadi forces by retreating from Al-Turbah in Aden.
