BEIRUT, LEBANON (8:20 P.M.) – The Houthi (var. Ansarallah) forces launched a big counter-offensive in western Yemen this week that targeted the areas recently captured by the Gulf-backed troops.
Backed by heavy artillery, the Houthi forces stormed Southern Resistance Army’s positions in the Hays District, resulting in a series of intense clashes that began on Tuesday.
According to the official media wing of the Houthi forces, their troops managed to retake several areas in the Hays and Tuhaytah districts, while also inflicting heavy damage on the defenses of the Gulf-backed troops.
The Houthi forces alleged that their troops killed at least 46 members of the Gulf-backed troops, while wounding another 57 in the process.
This large-scale counter-offensive by the Houthi forces comes just days after the Gulf-backed troops pushed their way deep into the Hays District of the Hodeidah Governorate.
