The Houthi forces, backed by the Yemeni Republican Guard and Saleh units, reportedly captured Brigade 35 Base in the Ta’iz Governorate on Sunday after a grueling week long battle with the Hadi loyalists and Saudi-led Coalition.

Also known as the “Al-Qasr Camp,” Brigade 35 is located in the southern district of Tai’iz City; it has long been under the control of the Saudi-led Coalition and their allies.

Brigade 35’s location in Ta’iz makes it an imperative military endeavor for the Houthi forces and Yemen Republican Guard because it opens up the southern district inside the provincial capital.

This is absolutely impressive as KSA has the 3rd military budget on Earth : their military spendings are simply over Russia, France or UK by about +20bln$ a year, they’ve got a professional army, they’ve even bought specialized COIN aircrafts derivated from agricultural airplanes like the Air-Tractor AT-802U or the Iomax ArchAngel : http://www.802u.com/sites/default/files/AT-802U_Brochure_07_10.pdf Up to 3690kg payload (more than a Mig-23!) and 10 hours loiter time… http://aviationweek.com/dubai-air-show-2015/uae-taking-delivery-archangel-coin-aircraft Both can use the turkish Rocketsan Cirit guided rockets so shooting dozens of targets on every flight is more than easy. I’m not counting the 156 F-15 (and 84 on order), the… Read more »
