Two days after the Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham (ISIS) infiltrated into Well 101’s northern barrier, the Syrian Arab Army’s Special Forces brigade “Qawat Suqour Al-Sahra” (Desert Hawks) was able to secure the gas field after fierce clashes on Tuesday morning.

Following the Desert Hawks restoration of security at Well 101, the latter – in coordination with the 18th Tank Division of the 3rd Army Corps and the National Defense Forces (NDF) – rejoined their comrades besieging Well 105, continuing their assault on ISIS’ last stronghold at Jabal Al-Sha’ar (Poet Mountains).

On the road to the town of Al-Sikhnat, the SAA’s engineering units dismantled a total of 62 roadside bombs near the village of Arik in east Homs.

At Al-Sikhnat, the SAA’s 18th Brigade confronted a large ISIS contingent, killing 11 enemy combatants and destroying 4 of their vehicles that were mounted with doshkas and 23mm machine guns.

Perhaps the most violent battle in rural Homs took place at the Gold Bridge (Jissr Al-Dahab) in the village of Al-Ashraqiyah – a total of 29 militants were killed during the battle, including 6 identified enemy combatants from the ‘Akkar District in Lebanon.

Please treat this discussion with the same respect you would a public park. We, too, are a shared community resource — a place to share skills, knowledge and interests through ongoing conversation.

These are not hard and fast rules, merely guidelines to aid the human judgment of our community and keep this a clean and well-lighted place for civilized public discourse.

Improve the Discussion

Help us make this a great place for discussion by always working to improve the discussion in some way, however small. If you are not sure your post adds to the conversation, think over what you want to say and try again later.

  • Ad hominem attacks
  • Responding to a post’s tone instead of its actual content
  • Knee-jerk contradiction

Instead, provide reasoned counter-arguments that improve the conversation.
