On Wednesday morning, a Hezbollah (Party of God) contingent laid a surprise attack on the militants from the Syrian branch of Al-Qaeda “Jabhat Al-Nusra” (Victorious Front), killing 28 confirmed enemy combatants near the town of Rankous.

The National Defense Forces (NDF) and Hezbollah targeted an agglomeration of Jabhat Al-Nusra militants in the towns of Ras Al-Ma’arat and ‘Assal Al-Ward, killing 11 confirmed enemy combatants and confiscating their heavy armory.

In the East Ghouta, the Syrian Arab Army’s 105th Brigade of the Republican Guard (Harss Al-Jamhouri) continued their operations west of the Al-Wafadeen Refugee Camp after unearthing a large tunnel in this area in Rif Douma.

South of Douma, the SAA’s 4th Mechanized Division made its way through the rugged terrain of Kafr Batna, destroying a Jaysh Al-Islam (Army of Islam) hideout inside the town and killing 9 of their militants.

Identified among the dead Jaysh Al-Islam fighters at Kafr Batna were the following: Zaayid Al-‘Awad Al-Jaheeni (Saudi), Atfi Al-Sa’ouri, Nihaad Al-Masouti, and Jameel Al-Darah.

Fierce clashes were also reported in ‘Ayn Tarma, Jobar, Yarmouk Camp (30th Street), Az-Zabadani, Wadi Al-Barada, Khan Al-Sheih, Hajar Al-Aswad, Zamalka, Harasta, Deir Al-‘Asifeer, and Hawsh Al-Farah.

This is a Civilized Place for Public Discussion

Please treat this discussion with the same respect you would a public park. We, too, are a shared community resource — a place to share skills, knowledge and interests through ongoing conversation.

These are not hard and fast rules, merely guidelines to aid the human judgment of our community and keep this a clean and well-lighted place for civilized public discourse.

Improve the Discussion

Help us make this a great place for discussion by always working to improve the discussion in some way, however small. If you are not sure your post adds to the conversation, think over what you want to say and try again later.

The topics discussed here matter to us, and we want you to act as if they matter to you, too. Be respectful of the topics and the people discussing them, even if you disagree with some of what is being said.

Be Agreeable, Even When You Disagree

You may wish to respond to something by disagreeing with it. That’s fine. But remember to criticize ideas, not people. Please avoid:

  • Name-calling
  • Ad hominem attacks
  • Responding to a post’s tone instead of its actual content
  • Knee-jerk contradiction

Instead, provide reasoned counter-arguments that improve the conversation.
