BEIRUT, LEBANON (9:10 A.M.) – Hezbollah forces in the eastern countryside of Homs will take part in the upcoming large-scale offensive to expel the last Islamic State (ISIL) militants from central Syria.
According to a military source in Damascus, Syrian and Lebanese Hezbollah units will participate in this central Syria offensive, as the ongoing safe-zone agreement frees up many fighters across the country.
Previously, Lebanese Hezbollah fighters were present in the Palmyra region, carrying out special operations alongside the Syrian Arab Army.
However, they took a step back once several units from the Syrian Arab Army’s 5th Legion arrived in the Palmyra countryside to continue their field operations.
Hezbollah’s commanders will also take part in this offensive, offering guidance to the forces fighting the Islamic State terror organization.
