BEIRUT, LEBANON (3:40 P.M.) – The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and Hezbollah resumed their offensive along the Lebanese border this morning, targeting the Islamic State’s (ISIL) last positions in the Jarajeer Barrens.

Backed by SyAAF airstrikes, the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and Hezbollah stormed the Qurnah Sha’bat Al-Bahsah area of the Jarajeer Barrens, resulting in a brief battle with the Islamic State terrorists.

Unable to hold the area, the Islamic State was forced to withdraw from Qurnah Sha’bat Al-Bahsah towards the Lebanese border, as the Syrian Army and Hezbollah forces advanced across a long patch of rugged territory in the Qalamoun region.

The Syrian Army and Hezbollah launched their third and last phase of the Qalamoun offensive ten days ago; since then, the two allies have liberated more than 120 square kilometers of territory from the Islamic State terror organization.
