The Syrian Arab Army’s 43rd Brigade of the 4th Mechanized Division and Hezbollah have been busy at the western slopes of the Qalamoun Mountains today, striking both the Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham (ISIS) and Jabhat Al-Nusra (Syrian Al-Qaeda group) near the Syrian-Lebanese border crossing into Jaroud ‘Arsal.

Hezbollah has been actively patrolling the Jaroud Jarajeer area near the Lebanese border-crossing in order to halt the terrorist group’s from freely moving between both countries.

As a result, Hezbollah was able to ambush a Jabhat Al-Nusra convoy between the villages of Jaroud and Jaroud Jarajeer on Sunday.

The following morning, the Syrian Arab Army’s 43rd Brigade and Hezbollah carried out a joint assault to cutoff ISIS at Jaroud Jarajeer; this attack would prove successful as they were able to thwart the terrorist group’s infiltration attempt and cutoff the main road from Lebanon.

With the main road cut, ISIS and Jabhat Al-Nusra will now have to rely on the Jaroud Qarah crossing, despite its susceptibility to the Syrian Arab Air Force’s (SAAF) powerful airstrikes.
