The Syrian Arab Army’s 4th Mechanized Division – in coordination with Hezbollah, the National Defense Forces (NDF), Kataebat Al-Ba’ath (Al-Ba’ath Battalions), and Harakat Al-Nujaba (Iraqi paramilitary) – continued their advance inside the Aleppo Governorate’s southern countryside, targeting the towns to the east of the strategic Aleppo-Damascus International (M-5 Highway) while the Russian Air Force bombards the Islamist rebels from above.
On Monday morning, the Syrian Armed Forces and Lebanese Resistance recovered Al-Sabaqiyah after a series of intense firefights with the Islamist rebels from the Syrian Al-Qaeda group “Jabhat Al-Nusra”, Liwaa Suqour Al-Sham, Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham, and the Free Syrian Army (FSA) inside this southern Aleppo town that was captured by the aforementioned factions over the weekend.
In addition to their success at the town of Al-Sabaqiyah, the Syrian Armed Forces captured the imperative hilltop of Tal Syriatel that overlooks the city of Khan Touman on Monday morning; this aforementioned city is situated to the east of the Aleppo-Damascus International Highway and used by the Islamist rebels to strike the Syrian Army’s positions inside the Aleppo Governorate’s provincial capital.
The Syrian Armed Forces and Lebanese Resistance have now advanced to the northern axis of Khan Touman and the eastern axis of Al-Khalidiyah (another city overlooking the Aleppo-Damascus Highway); if they can successfully capture these cities, they will have obstructed the main supply route for the Islamist rebels from Idlib to Aleppo.
To add to the Islamist rebels plight in Aleppo, the key Islamist leader and founder of “Harakat Nour Al-Deen Al-Zinki” – Isma’eel Nasayf – was reportedly killed during clashes with the Syrian Arab Army and Hezbollah in southern Aleppo.
Harakat Nour Al-Deen Al-Zinki is one of the largest Islamist rebel factions inside the Aleppo Governorate – they only operate in this large province in northern Syria.
Isma’eel Nasayf recently threatened the Hezbollah Secretary General – Sayyid Hassan Nasrallah – with a promise to defeat him and his army.
