BEIRUT, LEBANON (6:45 P.M.) – Two Turkish-backed rebel factions clashed inside the Afrin region of northwestern Aleppo this afternoon, local activists reported via social media.

According to the reports, fighters from Jaysh Al-Islam and Ahrar Al-Sharqiyah (Free Syrian Army faction) clashed inside of Afrin city, today, resulting in several casualties for both parties.

The clashes reportedly broke out near the Kawa Roundabout of Afrin city and lasted for several minutes before both factions halted their hostilities.

At least one member of Ahrar Al-Sharqiyah was killed, while several other fighters were wounded.

Jaysh Al-Islam has since issued a statement saying that they did not approve this attack nor did they know anything about it.
