BEIRUT, LEBANON (6:55 A.M.) – The ongoing operation by Syrian pro-government forces to capture the Tal Bardiyah mountain chain in Damascus’ western countryside is taking its toll on jihadist militants of the Ha’yat Tahrir al-Sham (formerly Jabhat al-Nusra) terrorist group whose losses are now running into the dozens following days of fanatical resistance.
According to military-affiliated sources, pro-government forces have killed well over 20 Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham fighters including two commanders (one an Afghan mercenary) and a top sniper.
At the present time, the Syrian Army and its allies have broken through Ha’yat Tahrir al-Sham’s first line of defense around the Tal Bardiyah chain, capturing the eastern hill.
The high-peak and western hill still remains under the control of jihadist militants.
Should pro-government forces take the entire Tal Bardiyah mountain chain and hold fast against terrorist counter-attacks, then the way for a direct assault on the strategic town of Beit Jinn and a number of nearby settlements will be opened.
Below are pictures of some of the slain jihadist militants.
