BEIRUT, LEBANON (5:00 P.M.) – More than 10 Syrian Arab Army soldiers were killed recently after the Islamic State (ISIS/ISIL/IS/Daesh) carried out a powerful ambush in the eastern countryside of the Homs Governorate.
According to reports from eastern Syria, the Islamic State laid the ambush against the Syrian Arab Army troops near the desert town of Al-Sukhnah.
In addition to killing several soldiers near the town of Al-Sukhnah, the Islamic State also captured eight military personnel alive.
The Islamic State would later execute the Syrian Army soldiers, posting images of their terrorists killing the military personnel in an undisclosed location in the Badiya Al-Sham region.
The Islamic State has been wreaking havoc on the Syrian Arab Army’s positions in the eastern countryside of Homs recently, killing over 40 soldiers in the last ten days alone.
In order to counter these Islamic State ambushes, the Syrian Arab Army has sent reinforcements to the Homs and Deir Ezzor governorates; however, they have yet to deter the terrorists from carrying out these attacks.
