BEIRUT, LEBANON (9:15) – Another large batch of government reinforcements have been deployed to the southeastern countryside of Damascus to participate in a future operation near the Iraqi border, a military source told Al-Masdar News on Sunday.

Reinforcements from the pro-government Palestine Liberation Army (PLA), Fatah Al-Intifada (Palestinian paramilitary), and the Shadi Regiment (NDF unit) arrived in southeast Damascus, Sunday, after receiving orders from the Syrian Army’s High Command.

The reinforcements will be tasked with protecting recently captured areas in order to relieve the Syrian Arab Army’s 5th Corps in the region.

With the ongoing ceasefire in southern Syria, it is unlikely that the Syrian government forces will launch another large-scale offensive in this area anytime soon; however, the High Command in Damascus is taking precautionary measures to protect their territory in case the US-backed rebels launch an attack.
