The Syrian Arab Army’s 104th Airborne Brigade of the Republican Guard carried out a successful raid inside the Al-Hamidiyah District of Deir Ezzor City on Tuesday, killing and wounding several terrorists from the Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham (ISIS) near Central Park.
According to a military correspondent from the 104th Brigade, the Republican Guard surprised the terrorist group with a swift military operation to clear out the remaining pockets of resistance inside Central Park.
As a result of their military operation on Tuesday, the Republican Guard killed 32 terrorists (104th Brigade report) and wounded an estimated 40 others in the Al-Hamidiyah District of Deir Ezzor City.
Among the identified dead terrorists in the Al-Hamidiyah District were the following: ‘Amir Isma’eel Al-Harbak and ‘Umar Isma’eel Al-Kobissi.
The Syrian Armed Forces currently control over half of the provincial capital, despite ISIS’ repeated attempts to break into the Al-Jubeileh and Al-Rashidiyah Districts.
ISIS has concentrated most of their fighters at the Deir Ezzor Military Airport and the Al-Baghayliyah District rather than the provincial capital; this is one of the reasons why their presence inside the city is rather small.
Another issue plaguing ISIS in Deir Ezzor is the tribal uprising in the large city of Abukamaal; this has forced the terrorist group to concentrate several contingents to this front.
