El general ruso Petr Milyukhin, comandante de las tropas rusas en Siria, fue gravemente herido tras explotar una de las minas que el grupo terrorista ISIS dejó en la ciudad.

Fue trasladado inmediatamente a Rusia para recibir tratamiento médico.

Los equipos de desminado han estado trabajando todo el día para desmantelar la totalidad de explosivos improvisados y bombas plantdas por ISIS en la ciudad antes de su retirada precipitada frente al Ejército sirio que avanzó con el apoyo aéreo de Rusia.

Mientras tanto, tuvieron lugar fuertes enfrentamientos entre ISIS y el Ejército sirio para controlar la base aérea de Palmira. Se espera que el Ejército sirio libere la base aérea.
