BEIRUT, LÍBANO (6:30 AM) – Las Fuerzas de Protección Gozarto (FPG) llegaron la semana pasada a la gobernación de Deir Ezzor para participar en la próxima ofensiva del gobierno contra la organización terrorista Estado Islámico (ISIS).

Formadas por combatientes asirios de la ciudad de Al-Qamishli en gobernación de Al-Hasake, las Fuerzas de Protección Gozarto han participado en varias batallas contra el Estado Islámico en el pasado, incluyendo la liberación de Qaraytayn en 2016 y la defensa de Sadad en 2015.

Si bien no son una fuerza relativamente grande, la FPG sí poseen combatientes bien entrenados que han sido probados en batalla en este tipo de terreno desértico.

En los próximos días, se espera que las fuerzas armadas sirias pongan en marcha una imperativa maniobra para capturar el cementerio provincial con el fin de levantar el asedio al Aeropuerto Militar de Deir Ezzor
