BEIRUT, LEBANON (3:20 P.M.) – The Free Syrian Army’s Fallujah Houran Division of the Southern Front launched a new assault against the Jaysh Khaled bin Waleed Islamic State (ISIS) faction in southwest Dara’a this week, targeting the terrorist group’s positions in the Yarmouk Basin area near the Jordanian border.
Using heavy machine guns and tank shells, the Free Syrian Army faction pounded the Islamic State’s positions in the Yarmouk Basin, inflicting heavy damage on the latter’s defenses.
Video footage of this assault was released by rebel activists on Friday; it shows the FSA using machine guns and tank shells on the enemy defenses:
While the FSA has launched several offensives in southwest Dara’a this year, they have been unable to upend the Islamic State forces from this region.
Almost all of the FSA’s offensives begin with their forces capturing some areas, only to retreat later when the Islamic State launches a counter-assault.
