DAMASCUS, SYRIA (0:30 A.M.) – Jihadists of the so-called “Islamic State” launched a new powerful attack in Deir Ezzor province on Saturday, striking Syrian Army defense lines near Al-Baghiliyah district, Aiyash village, in the city cemetery area and in the surroundings of Barouk hill.
Despite the power of onslaught, government troops were able to withstand it having repelled all the IS infiltration attempts so far.
Some 20 militants have been killed in the violent clashes; besides, Syrian military managed to destroy 2 pickup trucks mounted with anti-aircraft guns and an IS fortified position with a machinegun.
Firefights are still ongoing at the frontline, but it is safe now to say that IS jihadists had lost the momentum and are likely to withdraw to their starting positions in the coming hours.
