BEIRUT, LEBANON (2:20 A.M.) – The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) carried out a powerful attack against the Islamic State (ISIL) terror organization this week, targeting the latter’s positions inside the town of Qaleb Al-Thor.
Led by the Qalamoun Shield of the 3rd Division, the Syrian Arab Army managed to liberate most of Qaleb Al-Thor after a fierce battle with the Islamic State terrorists present in the town.
Video footage of this advance was captured by Russia’s Channel 1 News Agency; it shows the Syrian Arab Army’s operations around Qaleb Al-Thor:
However, despite their initial success, the Syrian Arab Army was forced to retreat later in the day in order to avoid suffering any further casualties as a result of a big counter-attack by the Islamic State.
According to a military source, the Syrian Arab Army is expected to launch another major attack in the coming days, as they continue to weaken the Islamic State’s resolve in the eastern countryside of Hama.
