BEIRUT, LEBANON (11:35 P.M.) – French President Emmanuel Macron held a meeting with a Kurdish PYD delegation in the capital city of Paris on Thursday, the Reuters News Agency reported this evening.

The French President and the PYD delegation discussed several topics, including the current situation in northern Syria.

The PYD delegation called on the French President to use his influence in order to derail Turkey from launching anymore military operations in northern Syria.

“An Arab, Kurdish and Christian delegation from Syria is being received at the Elysee to discuss the situation in Afrin and northern Syria,” the representative office of the northern Syrian Rojava region, which is largely controlled by the Kurds, said on Twitter.

“Important announcements are expected from France,” the representative office added.

This meeting comes in Paris comes just two weeks after the Turkish-backed rebels seized the strategic town of Afrin in the northwestern countryside of Aleppo.

The delegation from Northern Syria was made up of TEV-DEM Co-chair Asya Abdullah, Afrin Canton Executive Council Co-chair Hêvin Reşîd, Cizire Canton Foreign Affairs Council Co-chair Siham Qiryo, Cizirê Region Executive Council Member Faner Gaêt, Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) Foreign Affairs Official Rêdur Xelil, YPJ Spokeswoman Nesrin Abdullah and Northern Syria Autonomous Administration Representative for France, Dr. Xalid İsa, NOT of the ‘Kurdish’ PYD (which in turn has nothing to do with a ‘US backed future party’ as our friend Andrew claimed here earlier). Somehow you could at least stick to the facts.
